What Is the Timeline?

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2019. The construction process is expected to take approximately three months, followed by final road paving in the areas affected by construction.

Please note that timelines are subject to change due to a variety of factors.

Why now?

The existing water main is deteriorating and has experienced previous leaks, making this a high priority replacement project.

Upgrading this water main helps provide reliable water service into the future, reduces the chance of leaking and broken water mains, and provides greater fire protection coverage.

How does this affect me?

Depending on your property type and use, this project will affect you in different ways and times:

Working Times

Work will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work may periodically occur outside of these times if approved by Washington County.

Traffic Disruptions

Vehicular and pedestrian access within the project area will be limited during construction. NW 119th Avenue will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flagging within the sections that are being actively installed. The location of the lane reduction will move as construction progresses.

TVWD will work to maintain access to neighborhoods and driveways throughout the project. Temporary access may be provided by placing steel plates over exposed work areas while that section is being installed and/or connected.

General Construction Disruptions

During construction, heavy equipment and materials will be located in the work area. These areas will be clearly marked with cones and/or caution tape. When construction is occurring noise and dust may be present.

Water Service Disruptions

Once the new water main is installed, neighborhoods and individual homes served from the old water main will be switched to the new main. This will require service disruptions, which typically last four to six hours.

Detailed maps of each shutoff area will be made available once construction scheduling is available.

Water service disruptions are scheduled in the middle of the day when most residents are away from home. It is TVWD's goal to minimize the water service disruption time for all customers. You will be notified at least 48 hours in advance of when service disruptions are planned.
