What Is the Timeline?

Construction is scheduled to begin in early August 2019. The construction process is expected to take approximately four to eight weeks, followed by final road paving typically four weeks following the water main installation.

Please note that timelines are subject to change due to a variety of factors.

Why now?

The existing water main is deteriorating, with previous leaks and is a priority replacement project.

Upgrading this water main helps provide reliable water service into the future, reduces the chance of leaking and broken water mains, and provides greater fire protection coverage.

How does this affect me?

Depending on your property type and use, this project will affect you in different ways and times:

Working Times

Work will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work may periodically occur outside of these times if approved by Washington County.

Traffic Disruptions

Vehicular and pedestrian access within the project area will be limited during construction. The parking lot along NW 153rd for townhome residents will be closed at times during the project.

TVWD will work to maintain access to driveways throughout the project. Temporary driveway access may be provided by placing steel plates over the exposed work areas while that section is being installed and/or connected, typically lasting one day.

This project may include times when the intersections on NW Oak Hills and NW 153rd Avenue will be limited to one lane or controlled by flaggers.

General Construction Disruptions

During construction, heavy equipment and materials will be located in the work area. These areas will be clearly marked with cones and/or caution tape. When construction is occurring, noise and dust may be present.

Water Service Disruptions

Once the new water main is installed, individual water services will be connected to the new line. Your water will be temporarily turned off for 15 to 30 minutes to connect your home to the new main.

When the entire project is complete, TVWD will disconnect the original water main from the system. That process requires a service disruption of four to six hours.

Water service disruptions are scheduled in the middle of the day when most residents are away from home. It is TVWD's goal to minimize the water service disruption time for all customers. You will be notified at least 48 hours in advance when service disruptions are planned.
